97 Hillview Ave, Los Altos, CA 94022The Los Altos Investment Bowl is a beginner-friendly competition where you’ll create a custom investment portfolio based off of a case study and stock list! Working together in teams of up to 3, you’ll pitch your finished portfolio to our panel of judges, who will select winners for 10+ award categories. All attendees will enjoy free lunch, and whether you’re a pro at investing or just dipping your toes in the water, this is a great opportunity to demonstrate your skills and learn more about investing - no experience needed to attend!

Each team will be given a sheet containing 30 stocks that include useful data such as company name, industry, price, 1-year high, P/E ratios, and more.
You will have $100,000 to build a portfolio (i.e. a set of stocks or bonds) that meet your client’s needs (e.g. client is looking to save for retirement in 20 years, or for their next summer vacation).
A portfolio can have as few as 1 stock, or as many as 30. After constructing the portfolio, you’ll prepare a 3-minute pitch to sell your portfolio to the judges (your client).

Who can participate?
High schoolers of all skill levels are welcome! You don’t need any prior investing experience - anyone between the ages of 13-19 can attend!
What should I bring?
Make sure to bring a laptop, charger, & water bottle. Also bring the signed liability form we’ll be sending out before the event! There will be snacks at the competition.
What if I don’t have a team?
No problem! We will provide an opportunity for you to form teams and meet new people at the beginning of the event.
What if I have no experience with investing?
No problem! We organized this competition with beginners in mind. In fact, we’ve assembled some resources to get you started here!
Does this event cost money?
No! This event is free for all attendees.
How does building a custom investment portfolio work?
At the event, we will release an investment case study and a list of stocks that you can use to build your portfolio and shape your strategy with!
What can you invest in?
We’ll be providing a list of Stocks, ETFs, and bonds that you can buy when constructing your investment portfolio! Derivatives, crypto, and many foreign securities will not be on the list.
